Does your taste in music change with the seasons? Mine does. Spring is for new bands – the louder and more raucous, the better. In the summer, I find myself craving 60s pop classics. During the fall, I go all-in on my beloved Halloween playlists. (Yes, Halloween music is a thing, but that’s what my other blog is for.)
California has always been an important place for me, musically. Growing up as a fan of The Beach Boys, I dreamed of a place where you surfed all day, danced on the beach all night and drove killer cars. (As a kid in the early 90s, my addiction to “Saved by the Bell” only furthered the obsession.)
The summers of 2014 and 2015 were rough for me. With 20/20 hindsight, I suppose some of that was personal growth – moving back into my own apartment, taking ownership of projects at my job, discovering a brand new writing path I had no idea would turn into something that resonated with people.
