Does your taste in music change with the seasons?
Mine does. Spring is for new bands – the louder and more raucous, the better. In the summer, I find myself craving 60s pop classics. During the fall, I go all-in on my beloved Halloween playlists. (Yes, Halloween music is a thing, but that’s what my other blog is for.)
And in the winter? I look for quiet acoustic songs – think music you’d put on while curled up under a blanket, reading a good book and watching the snowfall.
I started my Winter Tunes playlist all the way back in 2013 and have added to it every season since then. I love it for cold, grey work days in the winter because I can push play and never run out of songs since it’s closing in on 10 hours long.
There are some familiar “quiet” bands on the list – Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Iron & Wine – along with a few bands I hope will be new to you, like Henry Jamison, Joseph and The Staves.
