It’s festival week for this good groupie, and I couldn’t be more excited. In 48 hours, Miss Delaney and I will be hitting to road for Oklahoma to go to Center of the Universe Festival this year. I can’t wait to be back in my other home city, listening to fantastic music under the glowing Tulsa skyline Friday and Saturday nights.
They have some great headliners this year – I’m particularly excited about Fitz & the Tantrums and finally seeing Young the Giant again (it’s been about four years!), but there are PLENTY of other amazing bands I’m excited to finally check out, hopefully meet in person or see live again.
In this week’s mini playlist-o-summer, I’m featuring the five bands I’m looking forward to seeing at COU Fest this weekend:
Discovered this Dallas-based band over social media a few months ago. Their music is perfect for chilling out under the stars, and I’m looking forward to finally seeing them in person.
All About a Bubble
One of two bands on this list highly recommended by music friends that live in Tulsa. I love their upbeat pop/rock – should be the perfect thing to kick off the festival on Friday night.
Otis the Destroyer
It seems like every band I know is buddies with Otis the Destroyer, and now that I’ve finally caught on…I can’t believe I hadn’t run across them until just two months ago. I’m loving the balance of sparkling vocals with wailing guitars – perfect summer music.
After spending months and months hearing my friend Danielle talk about these guys the way I can go on and on about Quiet Company…I’m excited to have the chance to see them live. (Esp. since I missed my first opportunity back in May.)
Desi & Cody
Back when I still lived in Tulsa, Desi & Cody were friends of friends and I fell in love with their guy/girl harmonies and beautiful music. Can’t wait for the chance to hear them live and see how much they’ve grown in the last five years!
Who else should I check out at Center of the Universe Fest?
Here’s the line-up, and I’d love to hear…what bands do you see on this line up that I absolutely must see live?
Counting down to Friday,
