When I came up with this series idea, I knew the one place I could find a few awesome contributors: The Blogcademy. I might not be a fashion blogger, but many of my fellow blogcadettes from around the world are and Nikki Dee answered the call! She had already done this cute style post and was anxious to do another! Read on for her top tips on how to dress smarter (ie be comfortable all day!) at music festivals.

The Dream Machine
You’ve got the lineup memorized. You’ve cleared your weekend. You’ve scouted the weather forecast. Now, for the important part: what are you going to wear?
Dressing for music festivals can be tricky, because you want to be comfortable, you need to be able to handle some hot/rainy/crazy weather, you want to rep your favorite bands, but you also want to look cute. Is that too much to ask? No, it’s not! Here are some tips for smarter dressing for music festivals.
The best thing to do is pre-plan your outfit before the day of the festival. Think about what kind of music festival it is: for example, a maxi skirt might be great for a folk festival, but not so much for Warped Tour. I have a pretty standard go-to formula for all festivals. Usually it’s easy to go for: a dress with shorts underneath, or shorts and a cut-off tee.
2. Go for comfortable shoes
Wear comfortable sneakers! With. Laces. Save the flip-flops for the beach, because you’ll be standing and dancing all day, your feet will get stepped on, and it will hurt. You don’t want to go home with bruised, dirty toes! Converse all stars and vans low-tops are two good choices, but I recommend wearing anything that laces up. I made the mistake of wearing slip-on shoes to a music festival once, and in the midst of an intense crowd I actually LOST MY SHOES. That’s a true story. Learn from my mistakes!
3. Cover your head
Wear a bandanna/head scarf. They look super cute when holding back your sweaty hair, and always come in handy.
4. Keep it simple
My favorite piece right now for a summer festival is a pair of high-rise, studded cutoff shorts. They look badass and will keep a shorts-and-tee combo from looking too boring. You might as well rock it out, right?
5. Or go all Courtney Love
Another option is to go all Courtney Love and wear a baby doll dress with sneakers or ankle boots. Don’t forget to add shorts underneath so you can crowd surf!
Remember sunglasses and sunscreen, braid your hair up and out of your face, and don’t worry too much about how you look! Have a great time!
