When one of “the girls” moved to New York City last year, I knew she would have TONS of great musical moments to share. Late last week when Lauren shot over this review of Jack Antonoff’s new band Bleachers‘ from their show in Brooklyn – and one of the band’s first few shows, ever – I was super excited to share it. Love fun.? Loved Steel Train? Just love Jack Antonoff in general? Read on for a taste of what Bleachers is all about.
Jack Antonoff debuted his new not side project-side project in Brooklyn a few weeks ago. When I first heard about this, I didn’t know what to think. I thought: what about fun.? What about Steel Train? They were dissolved about a year prior. What is happening? Then I heard the single, and I was intrigued. Upon further listens, I was hooked. I listened to the song on repeat on my way to work for almost a week.
Fast forward a few weeks, and I found myself at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn seeing one of the first Bleachers shows.
Being that the band is still very new, and the record is still being recorded there wasn’t much music anyone had heard before. But it didn’t matter. I was in love. Jack has some of the best stage performances and can work a crowd better than most. He played through about seven originals and did a cover of Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More.” It was such an incredible show. The music sounds like a continuation of Steel Train, which I guess is just an extension of Jack himself.

And just released TODAY, check out the new Bleachers song, “Shadow“.
