All week we’ve been talking about Halloween music. I’m hosting my annual Halloween party this weekend, so I’ve been celebrating with a series I’ve dubbed “Halloweek.” With that name – move over Hermione, there’s a new clever witch in town!
It’s all been leading up to today – the day I give you access to my master playlist of more than 100 songs perfect for your Halloween playlists! I’ve carefully compiled these songs over the past five years by scouring Google for “Halloween playlist”, pouring over playlists on Spotify – and then searching for songs with key words like vampire, zombie, witch – and this year I even allowed myself to dive head-first into what Pinterest had to offer (surprisingly decent!). Basically anything I like and think qualifies gets dumped onto this list so I don’t ever lose track of it.
This list is a little over-the-top for a typical party, I know. Unless you and your friends are party animals, you probably don’t need a solid seven hours worth of music. (Yup, that’s how long my master playlist will go for, no songs repeated!) I took a new approach this year and used this list to pull songs from and compile a soundtrack customized just for this year’s party – a Rocky Horror Picture Show theme! Hot patootie, bless my soul…I really love that rock-n-roll!
Stay tuned – once I recover from the weekend’s festivities, I am sure I’ll be putting together a “backstage pass” post to give you a glimpse at our night of backyard debauchery which includes a viewing of Rocky Horror, complete with props!
So while I go write my millionth “to do” list, carve up some pumpkins for decor, put the finishing touches on my costume and generally stress about the little details only I will notice because my party guests will be too busy roasting weenies, drinking Witches Brew and having fun…I invite you to peruse my master playlist and use it to create or add to your own spooky soundtrack for All Hallow’s Eve!

If you create your own, be sure to share it with me! I’d love to see what you come up with.
Special thanks to Angela Duncan Photography for letting me share a few snapshots from the photo booth she set up at my 2011 Masquerade Halloweenie Roast!
2015 update: this playlist is constantly updated, so some of my numbers in this post may be outdated.
